Bart Vanaudenaerde
KU Leuven researcher in the BREATHE laboratory who leads projects on lymphatics, tolerance, graft acceptance and chronic rejection after lung transplantation.
As of . Primary source: KU Leuven who's who.
Summary
According to the KU Leuven who's who page, Bart Vanaudenaerde is a member of the Laboratory of Respiratory Diseases and Thoracic Surgery (BREATHE) and is promotor or co-promotor of projects including exploring central tolerance in murine lung transplantation, improving graft acceptance with donor-specific blood transfusion, the role of aging in lung transplantation, the OLYMPUS project on lymphatics after lung transplantation, and a project on chronic lung allograft dysfunction from clinical predictors to molecular pathways.
Ranking method and caveats
Methodology for the researcher ranking
- Query: OpenAlex works of type article or review whose title or abstract contains "chronic lung allograft dysfunction" or "restrictive allograft syndrome", or "bronchiolitis obliterans" together with lung transplant terms. Retracted works and meeting-abstract supplements are removed.
- Window and date: works published 2016-10-11 to 2026-10-10; counts retrieved 2026-10-10 (2,461 works, 8,698 author profiles after merging).
- Counting: the rank is by total citations of the author's papers (whole counting). Fractional counts, first or last author papers and counts without the two 2019 ISHLT consensus papers are shown on each record.
- Identity: authors are identified by OpenAlex author identifier and ORCID. Duplicate profiles were merged by identical ORCID, or by compatible name plus shared institution. Only the top 30 entries were checked by hand.
- Rising researchers: a separate numbered list ordered by citations in the 5 years from 2021-10-11, for authors whose first paper in the corpus is dated 2019 or later and who have at least 5 papers in that window. It is a proxy, not a measure of career stage.
- Caveats: the corpus includes papers only partly about CLAD; consensus papers inflate some totals; recent papers are under-cited; author identifiers can be wrong; citations measure attention, not quality or clinical skill.
