Identification and characterization of inflammatory LILR and fibrotic SPP1 macrophages in chronic lung allograft dysfunction
A bioRxiv preprint (version 1, posted 9 September 2026) reporting two macrophage populations in CLAD, with SPP1 macrophages selectively enriched in RAS.
As of . Primary source: bioRxiv record via DOI.
Summary
Preprint, not peer reviewed. The abstract reports single-cell RNA sequencing of CLAD lung tissue (7 BOS, 7 RAS) and control lung tissue (n = 6). It describes inflammatory macrophages expressing leukocyte immunoglobulin-like receptors (LILR), present in both BOS and RAS, and fibrotic macrophages expressing osteopontin (SPP1), selectively enriched in RAS. The corresponding author, Allen Duong, is listed at University Health Network. The author list includes Stephen Juvet and Tereza Martinu. These findings have not been peer reviewed and should be read as preliminary.
